Microsoft to Buy Nokia Devices and Business for $7.2 billion

Microsoft to Buy Nokia – It is looking no other than surprise. But it’s true, Microsoft is all set to buy Nokia and its Business. In a conversation post, Nokia has announced that it agrees the agreement whereby Nokia will sell all of its Mobile device, Smartphones, Service, Business and licence its to Microsoft for EUR 5.44 billion in cash 3.79 Billion for devices and services 1.65 Billion for the associated patents.

As part of the transaction, Microsoft acquires all Nokia’s devices, service & business along with the all Nokia phones and Smartphones business as well as an industry-leading design team, Services production facilities, Devices & Services-related sales and marketing activities and related support functions. According to the transaction, 32,000 Nokia employees transitioned over to Microsoft including 4,700 in Finland and 18,300 employed in manufacturing positions worldwide.

Microsoft is acquiring Nokia’s Smart Devices business unit, along with the Lumia brand and products. Nokia Lumia smartphones has become more popular in last three quarters, with sales reaching 7.4 million units in the second quarter of 2013.


Nokia is assigning to Microsoft its long-term patent licensing agreement with Qualcomm, as well as other licensing agreements.
