Why smartphone from Indian Government ?

The Indian Government think a smartphone is the best device for consuming broadband usage within the country. The Government focuses on “A fully-functional smartphone is no longer an object of desire but an instrument of empowerment”.
The Government may have a reasonable aim here. Cell phones being more modest than tablets, are moderately simpler and shabbier. Furthermore they are many-a-times, a just as compelling medium to convey client particular qualified data like versatile managing an account, telemedicine, and so forth. Besides the Government has been gradually moving towards Aadhar interfaced e-managing an account that will require mobiles to go about as prima-sash authenticators. The Government has set a focus of a cell phone that accompanies a beneath Us$ 100 (Rs. 5800) sticker, which is significantly higher than Akash tablet.

Subsequently Government could basically obtain these apparatuses from a specialist, much the same as they did with Datawind. Be that as it may, there is one more driving force behind an indigenously advanced cell phone. The Government wishes to push the use of National Strand Optic Network (NOFN) which will go live one year from now & which has requested a heavy speculation of Rs. 21,000 Crores (Us$ 3.5 Billion).
